Frequently Asked Questions

What is IV therapy?

IV therapy is a method of administering vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients directly into the bloodstream. This allows for higher levels of nutrients to be delivered to your body than would be possible through oral supplements, ensuring faster and more effective results.

What are the benefits of IV therapy?

IV therapy can rapidly replenish nutrients, enhance energy levels, strengthen the immune system, improve hydration, and help manage symptoms of various health conditions, including migraines and hangovers.

Who can benefit from IV therapy?

Almost anyone can benefit from IV therapy. It is especially beneficial for individuals seeking quick recovery from stress, illness, dehydration, or nutrient deficiencies. It is also popular among athletes for its performance enhancement and recovery benefits.

How long does an IV therapy session last?

Most IV therapy sessions last between 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the type of infusion. During this time, you can relax in a comfortable setting while the IV drip is administered.

Is IV therapy safe?

IV therapy is generally very safe when administered by qualified healthcare professionals. At Magnolia Family Urgent Care, all IV therapies are administered by trained staff under strict medical guidelines to ensure your safety and comfort.

Will I need basic blood work before an IV infusion?

Whether you need basic blood work before starting IV therapy will be determined by our provider based on your health history and specific needs. This step ensures that the chosen IV therapy is safe and tailored to your health requirements.

How often can I receive IV therapy?

The frequency of IV therapy depends on your individual health goals and the specific treatment being administered. Some clients receive IV therapy weekly, while others may benefit from a session once a month or as needed.

Can I customize my IV therapy treatment?

Yes, at Magnolia Family Urgent Care, we offer customized IV therapy solutions to meet your specific health needs. Our providers will help you choose the right nutrients and formulate a plan that targets your wellness goals.

Are there any side effects of IV therapy?

Side effects are rare and usually minor, but may include discomfort at the injection site, minor bruising, and, in very rare cases, an allergic reaction. Our staff are trained to manage any side effects promptly and efficiently.

How do I book an appointment for IV therapy?

You can book an appointment for IV therapy by calling us at 352-512-9703 or by visiting our website and scanning the QR code to schedule directly. We offer flexible scheduling to accommodate your needs.

Is there any preparation required before receiving IV therapy?

? It’s recommended to eat and drink water before your session to ensure you are well-hydrated and not receiving treatment on an empty stomach. This helps minimize any discomfort and enhances the effectiveness of the therapy.

Can I go back to work after receiving IV therapy?

Yes, you can typically return to your daily activities immediately after your IV therapy session. Many clients report feeling energized and refreshed, making it easy to continue with their day without interruption.

Is IV therapy covered by insurance?

IV therapy is generally not covered by insurance as it is considered a wellness service. However, we provide detailed receipts that you can submit to your health savings account (HSA) or flexible spending account (FSA) for reimbursement if applicable.

What makes IV therapy more effective than oral supplements?

The direct infusion of nutrients into the bloodstream allows for significantly higher absorption rates compared to oral supplements, which must pass through the digestive system. This means that your body can utilize nearly 100% of the nutrients provided, offering immediate and more potent effects.

Can IV therapy help with weight loss?

While IV therapy itself is not a weight loss treatment, it can support weight loss efforts by improving metabolic function, enhancing energy levels, and replenishing nutrients that support overall health, which may contribute to more effective weight management.

Are there different types of IV therapies available?

Yes, at Magnolia Family Urgent Care, we offer a variety of IV therapies designed to address different health needs. These include hydration, detoxification, immune support, anti-aging, and energy-boosting formulations, among others.

What are the qualifications of the professionals administering IV therapy?

Our IV therapies are administered by qualified healthcare professionals, including registered nurses and physicians, who are trained in IV infusion therapy and operate under strict medical protocols to ensure the highest standards of care and safety.

How do I know if IV therapy is right for me?

If you’re interested in exploring how IV therapy can benefit you, we recommend scheduling a consultation with one of our healthcare providers. They can assess your specific health needs and recommend the most appropriate therapy to support your wellness goals.

How often can I get B12 shots?

Generally, an injection once a month should suffice for replacement of B12. However, those with looking for increased energy or focus can benefit from this up to once a week.

What is MIC-B12?

MIC-B12 is a metabolism booster that can provide additional energy for 3-4 days after the injection. Enhances metabolism, to aid in weight loss when combined with improved diet and exercise. MIC = Methionine (amino acid), Inositol, Choline (latter two aid liver to metabolize fat)

How often can I get MIC/B12 shots?

Generally once to twice weekly. Maximum, as often as every 72 hours.

What are the most common side effects?

Bruising, hematomas, and bleeding are the most common. Associated with this are occasional superficial thrombophlebitis.

I had an IV last week and have noticed a firmness/”knot” at the site, what should I do?

Most likely this is a superficial thrombophlebitis, which is a completely benign blood clot. It should improve with warm compresses (15 min three times/day) and NSAIDs.
If there is associated arm swelling or significant redness/tenderness, this may be an indication of infection or something more severe.
We encourage patients experiencing complications return to us for evaluation with medical staff.

What should I expect during my first IV therapy session?

When you come to Magnolia Family Urgent Care for your first IV therapy session, you’ll experience a thorough and attentive process designed to tailor the treatment to your specific health needs.

Initial Consultation

At Magnolia Family Urgent Care, we start by discussing your medical history, current health goals, and any specific concerns. This initial consultation helps us tailor the IV infusion therapy to meet your needs. Depending on the discretion of your healthcare provider, blood work may be required to ensure the best course of treatment. Our team prioritizes your safety and wellness, taking into account any underlying conditions before recommending an infusion.

Personalized Preparation

Once your treatment plan is confirmed, our healthcare team will carefully prepare your IV infusion. We use a customized blend of vitamins, minerals, and essential nutrients based on your health profile and the goals discussed during your consultation. This preparation is done in a sterile, safe environment to ensure optimal care.

IV Insertion

Our trained medical professionals will then insert a small, sterile needle into a vein, typically in your arm, to start the infusion process. The needle is connected to a soft, flexible catheter, ensuring a smooth and comfortable experience. We take every precaution to minimize discomfort, and our team will walk you through each step to make sure you're at ease.

Relax During Infusion

You will sit comfortably as the IV solution is slowly infused into your bloodstream. This process can take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the specific type of infusion. During this time, you can relax, read, or even catch up on your favorite show. Our staff will monitor the infusion closely to ensure everything proceeds smoothly.

Post-Infusion Care

Once the infusion is complete, the needle is carefully removed, and you'll be briefly monitored to ensure everything went well. At Magnolia Family Urgent Care, your post-infusion recovery is just as important as the infusion itself. We'll provide you with any aftercare instructions, and the positive effects of your treatment should start to take effect shortly after your visit.
